Harmony & Healing Featured on NBC Bay Area

Harmony & Healing and its founder, David Victor, was featured on NBC4 Bay Area in December 2022.

The piece was shot and authored by NBC anchor, Garvin Thomas for his own “Bay Area Proud” segment.

Garvin’s story highlighted Harmony & Healing charity founder David Victor, an East Bay rock artist.

The non-profit arranges virtual visits between patients, some near the end stages of life, and professional musicians who play music for them.

Victor was inspired to start Harmony and Healing after visiting a children’s hospital while on tour with the multi-platinum band BOSTON, for whom he played guitar and was co-lead vocalist on their 2012-2014 North American tours.

The experience of visiting the children in the hospital and performing for them was so impactful that he wanted to continue to bring joy and comfort to patients through music.

At first, the charity did all performances in person, but the pandemic forced them to switch to virtual visits, which proved to be a better solution as the artists can be anywhere, and travel time is not a problem.

The non-profit has a variety of professional musicians who specialize in different genres of music. The patients are deeply appreciative of these visits, and it is a meaningful experience for the musicians as well.

Garvin Thomas is a reporter, photographer, editor, and anchor for NBC Bay Area News. He produces stories under the station’s Bay Area Proud banner.
