We are thrilled to announce that our founder, David Victor, has been recognized with the prestigious CBS News Bay Area Icon Award for his dedication to bringing healing through music to patients across the region and beyond.

The award, presented by CBS News Bay Area reporter Sharon Chin, celebrates David’s transformative work through Harmony & Healing, the San Ramon-based nonprofit he founded in 2019. Since its inception, the organization has provided free live music visits to hundreds of patients in hospice care, hospitals, and rehabilitation facilities nationwide.

“I’m incredibly humbled by this recognition,” said David. “This award represents every artist on our team, every patient we’ve had the privilege to perform for, and everyone who believes in music’s power to heal. When I see the light in someone’s eyes during our visits, I’m reminded why we do this work.”

David’s journey into music therapy began during his touring days as a member of the platinum-selling rock band Boston. A charity performance at a children’s hospital over a decade ago revealed music’s unique ability to transcend age and circumstance, inspiring him to dedicate his life to this mission.

Today, Harmony & Healing’s team of two dozen professional artists serves vulnerable populations across the Bay Area and beyond. From military veterans dealing with PTSD at VA facilities to children in pediatric palliative care, the organization’s therapeutic visits have become integral to recreational therapy programs.

“What moves me most is watching someone with dementia suddenly remember their first dance, or seeing a child facing incredible challenges smile and sing along,” David reflected. “These moments remind us that music is medicine for the soul.”

The organization’s impact extends to memory care facilities, where patients often experience remarkable connections to their past through familiar melodies. Veterans find comfort and healing through musical visits that help process trauma and build community.

While David continues his work as a digital marketing strategist, his commitment to Harmony & Healing remains his true passion. The nonprofit sustains its mission through innovative home fundraising concerts, allowing supporters to host intimate benefit performances.

“Receiving this Icon Award validates what we’ve believed from the beginning which is that music has an extraordinary ability to heal, comfort, and bring joy to people during their most vulnerable moments,” David said. “It encourages us to keep expanding our reach and finding new ways to serve our community.”

As Harmony & Healing celebrates this recognition, the organization continues seeking professional artists to join their mission of bringing therapeutic music to those who need it most.
